“Sometimes an understanding silence was better than a bunch of meaningless words.”
This book- if you have been living under a rock for some reason and haven’t heard of it or read it yet, GO GET IT! I was once too living there, but was recommended this book and I was glad I decided to pick it up. I find myself still thinking about their story even though I read the book months ago.
The story is about two troubled people, Bree and Archer, each having their own baggage and demons to battle, their own darkness to fight, but somehow finding light with each other.
I resonated with this book in ways I didn’t think were possible mainly because sometimes in life you are just dealt a shitty hand no matter how good of a person you are, and I can definitely relate to that. This was a redemption story, and one that will make you laugh, cry and hate the person that tries to stand in their way. I will admit that some parts were pretty predictable (hello two lost souls that find each other right on time and live happily ever after) and I was a little confused how Archer went from a virgin to this amazing, all knowing king of the bedroom. Watch out, there are some pretty steamy scenes in there, but for the most part it is a heartwarming, feel good story. Sometimes all you need is that feel good story to pick you up from the rut you are in, and let you know that it is going to be OK!
Flat out, I love their story. I love how it unfolds. I love the way it makes you feel. I love how Bree never gives up on Archer, even from the first moment she met him. She is patient, kind, and loving, everything that Archer needs. I love that Archer finally becomes the man he has always been on the inside and finds the voice he knew he had (total cheese fest, but hey, who doesn’t love queso!) I will warn you, I full out ugly cried but I think this book is the exact therapy everyone needs.
“Sometimes, that’s all it takes- one person who’s willing to listen to your heart, to the sound no one else has ever tried to hear.”
I would rate this book 4.5 stars **** and would definitely recommend others to read it again.
