Review: Maverick (North Ridge #2)

Maverick Cover

Title: Maverick

Author: Karina Halle

Genre: Romance

PhotoCred: GoodReads

Riley Clarke was looking for the chance to start over at a new job and John “Maverick” Nelson was not looking for anything at all besides the occasional hookup.  But as the newest member of the search and rescue team, and not to mention the only woman on the team, Riley had no idea what she was getting herself into the day she set her sights on Maverick.  Much to his surprise, Maverick can almost feel the chemistry between them and he knows he is going to be in for a long winter.  “But when the worst winter in years sweeps in, Riley and Maverick will have to battle the elements along with their attraction for each other. And if either of them slip up, both of them will be in for a deep freeze.”

I am not going to lie- this was one of Karina’s HOTTEST books I have read to date- trust me you will know the scene when you read it 🙂  She really brought the heat (even though it is set in the winter) and even warns you in the beginning that this book won’t be for the faint of heart.  But even though it was hot, it was also playful and reminded me of how my husband and I met working at Don’s Seafood.  I won’t lie to you and tell you I wasn’t picturing myself and Bryan (see about me section to see just how dreamy my husband is) while reading this book.  I thought Karina was able to perfectly capture Riley’s adventurous and commanding nature on paper, and yet perfectly balance her out with strong and steady Maverick.

If you enjoyed the first book in this series, then I hope you agree with me and also enjoy the second book.  Good news too- we get another one coming soon featuring the last Nelson Brother.

Overall, I would give this book a 5 star rating, and would definitely recommend you put it on your TBR list.
